It was way to early in the morning to be out and about but hey, thats what you get for working on a horse ranch and owning Thoroughbreds. Shawn yawned widely as he pulled the truck and trailer upto the gates of Augusta Park. He was to be a pony rider today. Lead the riled up Thoroughbreds to the gate. When he pulled upto the barn he shouted a howdy at Rick the barn manager and walked around back to unload the horses. He wore jeans, cowboy boots, cowhide chaps, flannel shirt and a black cowboy hat. With a sigh he spit on the groudn and stuck a piece of hay in the side of his mouth.
About an hour later he had unloaded his Thoroughbreds, which would be racing in a few weeks, and his Paints. He stalled each horses before moving his truck and unhitching the trailer. By the time horses were starting to get ready for races he had rolled up the sleeves of his shirt and was making eyes at the passing women. Shawn was known as a hella big player. He tacked up Ranger as the first race of the day was called. With a quick forty second warm up he was out on the track and grabbing the first racer. An unsteady Thoroughbred by the name of Galands Whisper. She was a winner and owned by his families ranch.

THAYET IRVINGTON "Faith is the strength by which a shattered world shall emerge into the light." - Helen KellerBriskly the blonde haired beauty rubbed her arms as she tucked herself inside a light zip-up sweater that complimented her slightly tight and a bit worn out blue jeans that clung to her skinny frame in the morning chill. Walking around her own black chevy-silverado Thayet rubbed her sleep askwed blue eyes, and mindlessly opening her truck door she grabbed a few halters. Of course she wasn't here to race, not today at least, but to pick up some of the horses that her family had racing here to day, and to watch their high-quality horse flesh in action. Slinging the halters and leads over her slender shoulders she closed her truck door and walked around the fancy six-horse horse trailer hitched to her truck and headed towards the stables.
For some reason this morning Thayet found it was impossible to focus her thoughts completly, she kept thinking of recent relationships gone bad and training sessions with her stock that could've gone better. She deffinatly had problems of her own. Walking towards the stalls reserved to her family she noticed what looked to be an easily won race, the first one of the day, was completed. Sighing she glanced down at a racing sheet a groomer had given her, the Irvington throughbreds didn't race until this evening, her parents where insane! Sighing Thayet aimlessly pulled up a fold out chair, dropping the leads and halters on the floor as she sat comfortably, watching the surroundings and horses around.

With a smile on his face and a lead line in his hand Shawn cantered Ranger down the race track. He kept up a steady stream of a conversation with the jockey as he brought the horse to the starting gates. After passing the filly off the the gate crew he spun Ranger around and they cantered back to the entrance. When he got there he waved at his dad. Stopping to talk to him for a few minutes, he smirked. Apparently there was a very pretty lady over by the stalls that he should meet.
With a clap on his dad's back he pushed Ranger into a walk. Done ponying until the evening races. As he rode Ranger through the stables, towards the McCarther stalls he noticed someone he didn't know would be here today. He stopped Ranger in front of her and with a crooked cowboy smile he tipped his hat to her. "Mornin' miss,"

THAYET IRVINGTON "Faith is the strength by which a shattered world shall emerge into the light." - Helen KellerThayet sighed loudly as she sat in the chair, playing with her light blonde hair that was settled around her shoulders. She had to consistantly keep herself from laughing as jockeys and excerise boys kept gawking as they passed her. The only thing she'd ever offer them was a seductive smile and a raincheck on a date. The male gender in general seemed to only grow more cocky and handsome everyday and Miss Irvington was a knowledgable young woman who was bound to not get her heart broken.
Shifting in her chair she allowed her glassy blue eyes to rest on a strange young man approaching her, all confidence in his stride and as he spoke Thayet was slightly caught but remained acting uninterested. Good morning sir, now what do you expect to get out of this conversation? Her words where charming yet dangerously vehment as she took in his form while she listened for his own answer.

Shawn watched as the atractive woman twirled her blonde hair on her fingers and looked out at the passing people with boredom. He smirked and took the piece of hay out of his lips. Dropping it on the ground he chuckled. She was a fiesty one she was. In answer to her question he gave just as cocky a reply. "The rights to brag about meeting a beautiful woman and a dinner with a beautiful woman," he told her.
Shawn jumped out of the saddle and flipped one rein over Rangers painted neck while he held the other in hsi tanned calloused hands. "Names Shawn, what shoudl i call you miss?" he asked. Steppign forward and holding out his hand to shake.

Thayet rolled her blue eyes but silently enjoyed his words. A smile crossed her features as she caught all of his words. Something she liked about this, Shawn. For some reason that name sounded typically famliar but then again, Thayet knew a far share of people and pushed aside her momentary thought. Her blue eyes flickered to the paint horse, it was a beautifully built animal, but then again Thayet was used to seeing high-quality horse flesh.
You can call me Thayet, and I think that for a challenge you should create a romantic picnic somewhere after the evening races and just maybe, I'll reward you with a small kiss and another date, how does that sound? A cocky smile rested on her lips, of course Miss Irvington wasn't easy, she would never be easy to get but she would be such a prize if a lucky person did ultimatly win her heart.

Shawn let out a laugh as she answered his silly, yet meaningful words. When she said her name is eyebrows flew together for a fraction of a second before going back to normal. He knew that name form somewhere. Somewhere that somebody didn't like. With a shake of his head he tossed it from his mind. Let the serious thoughts be, he told himself. With a smile at Thayet he bowed and nodded. "Very well, I shall pick you up in this exact spot at eleven pm," he told her before swiftly gettign onto Ranger's back again.
He tipped his hat to her dramatcialy. "My heart will yearn for you till i see those deep dreamy eyes again.

Thayet stopped herself from laughing as he spoke, obviously he was too full of himself to realize that in reality, those words went in one in and out the other to Thayet. She hadn't remained so simple minded for no reason, she was what you would call almost untouchable, a hard to get young woman with alot of money, a ton of talent, and a little love to give. Turning her head she noticed that the morning races were coming to an end and soon would be her time to go help with her families race horses. Getting up out of her chair Thayet headed towards her truck and trailer, the Irvington name logo printed in lovely light blue lettering against the dark blue of the trailer. It was time to get her mount ready to pony the thoroughbreds.

Shawn smirked and turning Ranger away rode to the McCarther stalls. By the time he had the horse untacked and eating oats the evening races were coming up. With a curse he started to tack up his families racers. They had two running today. As he led them to the race track he handed them off to ponyers. Going back to his stalls he grabbed a fresh horse. A black stallion by the name of Indigo. The horse was crazy but he loved em.
Shawn rode out onto the track again. Indigo doing a little rear and hop. The crowd ooed and awed as Shawn grabbed the reins of an Irvington Thoroughbred. He wrinkled his nose in disgust and shook his head. Running the horse down to the gates he sat on Indigo as he watched them all being loaded. He spotted Thayet handing a Thoroughbred to the gate crew and winked at her.

THAYET IRVINGTON "Faith is the strength by which a shattered world shall emerge into the light." - Helen KellerThayet saddled her black and white pinto stallion with general ease, mounting Scared Secrets she road at a slow walk and gathered up the reins of some thoroughbreds and handing them off to other ponyers but keeping the reins of a star thoroughbred from her families farm lightly in her hands. Secret easily matched the quick pace of the thoroughbred as they neared the gate crew, handing the colts reins off to the crew Thayet smiled, watching Shawn near here with one of the Irvington thoroughbreds. You should see that little lady move, she's one of my favorites.
Thayet pulled Scared Secrets up next to the filly and Shawn, watching as the young thoroughbred with her jockey moving as if they where one. Typically they had to be to be able to move at a fast pace and in a crowded pack. Nodding her head to the jockey as they neared the gate crew she spoke softly and lightly to the jockey. Remember Darrel to let her have her head in the last few minutes of the race, she knows her job.

Shawn frowned as Thayet spoke to the jockey of the irvington horse he handed off. He realized what was happening and a slow smirk dawned. This would be fun. To mess aroudn witht he heart of an Irvington vixen. A chuckle escaped his lips and he spotted on of the McCarther horses comeing down. He cantered over to the jockey. "Remember buck, this ole boy knows what to do, get in front and stay there, he can make the distance." he todl the jockey before pulling away.
He smirked at Thayet. Tipping his hat to her. "You shoudl see that boy run, its like he was mad eof the wind," he told her before reining Indigo into the in field. He wanted to watch this race. After all he trained Walking Thunder himself.

THAYET IRVINGTON "Faith is the strength by which a shattered world shall emerge into the light." - Helen KellerThayet practically choked when Shawn went to speak to the McCarther jockey but made no note of it. She'd made no mistake and perhaps he was just friends with the jockey. Agreeing to that note she smiled and turned Scared Secrets towards where Shawn was, leaving the face track she settled Secret in next to him. Hmm it will be interesting to see how this one turns out.

Shawn smirked at her. He nodded when she came to stand next to him. "Yes it will," he todl her. A hidden meaning in those three words. As the horses took off Shawn leaned forward. Adreniline rushing through him. "Come on Thunder. Get up there," he yelled. His hand clenched agaisnt the sadld ehorn. He smirked when thunder took the lead. Racing at the front of the field. He stiffened though when he saw Thayet's filly gaining on him.

THAYET IRVINGTON "Faith is the strength by which a shattered world shall emerge into the light." - Helen KellerThayet rolled her pretty blue eyes as the horses ran like mad down the track. Anticipation enthralled her as her little filly caught up to the monstrous McCarther horse. A little Seabiscuit that little lady is she thought with a large smile. Throwing glances at Shawn she laughed as the filly and other horse came neck to neck, knowing the full potential of the filly had yet to be unleashed for there were still 4 furlongs to go in the race. Keeping control over her horse and remaining emensed in the race came easily to Thayet and for some weird reason she felt a quiet unspoken companionship with Shawn, even though she had yet to know his last name. This will be an interesting turn out.

Shawn stood up in his stirrups as the horses came racing around the bend. They were on the backstretch now. Two furlongs to go and Walking Thunder let it go. His long legs took him a furlong ahead of the filly to win the race. "Yes," Shawn shouted. He laughed as he sat back in his saddle. With a smirk he turned to Thayet. "I'll see you tonight beautiful," he told her, spinning Indigo and cantering toward Thunder and Buck. A smile split his face as they walked to the winners circle.
Shawn sat on Indigo and Buck stayed on Thunder. Shawn's parents arrived and the photo was taken. A cheque put into Shawn's hand and a golden cup into his parents. He smirked as he strolled down the track. Heading for the entrance and the stables. He needed to get ready for his date.
